Check the toilet and attachment

Before purchasing, verify the bidet fits the toilet-seat mounting pattern, water connection, available clearance, and the included T-adapter. Inspect old supply lines and shutoff valves for corrosion or leaks; damaged valves or rigid supply lines can complicate the installation.

Shut off water and relieve pressure

Turn off the toilet supply valve before disturbing any fittings. Flush and capture residual water in a towel or shallow tray. Follow the attachment’s manufacturer instructions for removing the seat, positioning the attachment, and connecting the supply line and T-adapter.

Avoid cross-threading and over-tightening

Align threaded fittings carefully and start by hand wherever required by the manufacturer. Use only approved seals and connections. Overtightening plastic nuts can crack components and cause delayed leaks. Do not assume plumber’s tape is required when a connection uses a gasket.

Check for leaks

Restore the water supply gradually, check every joint with a dry tissue, and repeat the inspection after several flushes and after the system has been in use. Stop and correct any dripping. Electrically heated bidets require appropriate protected electrical installation, which is a separate consideration.
